THE STORY OF THE LYRIC THEATRE shared in these pages comes from Virginia Tech’s Newman Library Special Collections, Lyric archives, photographs, archives of the News Messenger, The Roanoke Times, and Virginia Tech student newspapers, and from memories shared in interviews with many individuals who know and love the Lyric. The Lyric itself has been and continues to be, sustained by a dedicated paid professional staff and a volunteer cast of hundreds. The Lyric Theatre has been supported by numerous small contributors, seat sponsors, and in-kind donations. Major donors to that effort are recognized on a framed plaque in the Lyric’s lobby.
