“I Am Maris” – UUC Mental Health Film and Panel Discussion
2018 | 55 min | Movie
Tormented by anxiety, depression and a life-threatening eating disorder, a teenage girl confronts her buried emotions through yoga. With infectious authenticity, I AM MARIS paints an unguarded portrait of mental illness and recovery, using Maris’ own words and vivid artwork to illustrate her inspiring journey.
There will be an open panel discussion following the movie. This movie event is sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation organization.
Bring your questions, and share community resources. The film will be followed with a panel discussion by mental health professionals in our community. It is another step toward ending the stigma of mental illness.
Unitarian Universalist of NRV Congregation and National Bank of Blacksburg helped to make this presentation possible.
